Vet Tech (Part-Time)

Position Summary:

Thunder Bay & District Humane Society (TBDHS) is hiring a part time veterinarian to staff our new spay/neuter clinic in Thunder Bay, Ontario. TBDHS is seeking a veterinarian who will be able to perform spay-neuter surgeries per day and must have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment. In addition, a successful candidate will be passionate about TBDHS’s mission of advocating for the welfare of animals by building the bridges of compassion between people and animals. This position will work Monday through Friday and may supervise 2 veterinary technicians and 2 veterinary assistants.  The salary for this position is depending on experience. In addition, TBDHS offers the following benefits: 20 paid days off per year, health insurance, and if required a portion of relocation costs paid. The candidate must be willing to obtain a mobile veterinarian license within the first 24 months of hire.  TBDHS has been accepted by the Humane Alliance National Spay/Neuter Response Team and the veterinarian hired for this position will receive specialized training (travel and training covered) from Humane Alliance on operating in a high-volume, high-quality, spay/neuter clinic. Anticipated start date for this position is early December 2017.

TBDHS’s clinic is located in beautiful Thunder Bay, Ontario, which is city situated 40 minutes north of the US/Canadian Border on the shoreline of the largest fresh water lake in the world, Lake Superior and home to numerous hiking trails and fresh water lakes.  Population is 108,000. Thunder Bay has excellent schools; access to world-class outdoor recreation such as skiing, kayaking, paddle boarding, sailing and mountain biking; and affordable housing.

TBDHS is a not for profit humane society and animal shelter, affiliate of the Ontario Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA) dedicated to improving and protecting the lives of Northern Ontario’s cats and dogs while focusing on reducing the overpopulation of unwanted pets by spaying and neutering all of age animals prior to adoption.
