Helping Hands

Purpose of role:

To ensure our shelter continues to stay clean and organized providing temporary relief on Animal Care Worker workloads

Qualifications:

  • Must meet age requirements (over 14 years of age with adult supervision/signed parental or guardian consent, 16 years of age with signed parental or guardian consent, or 18 years of age or older)
  • Organizational skills preferred
  • Able to follow instruction upon arrival
  • Able to lift 20lbs
  • Able to work with minimal or no supervision
  • Able to communicate with CEC if any issues arise

 

Primary Tasks/Responsibilities:

  • Upkeep on shelter laundry (cleaning, folding and organizing)
  • Cleaning animal dishes and organizing animal dish cupboards
  • Cleaning kennels, cat trees etc in tub room
  • Sweeping and mopping all common area floors
  • Upkeep and restock of public washroom
  • Emptying garbages and recycling
  • Disinfecting surfaces
  • Cleaning windows
  • Relaying information to Executive Director or CEC if any underlaying issues arise
  • Non-Monetary donation sorting
  • Documentation of hours

Time Commitment:

Minimum 6 Month Commitment (at least one shift per month depending on availability)

 

As per TBDHS recruitment expectations, Volunteers must complete:

TBDHS Volunteer application form

Interview with Community Engagement Coordinator (in-person, Zoom or Facetime)

Once accepted, complete an in-person tour and orientation
